On Macbook Air 7.2 (running Mate 16.04) closing lid suspends correctly
after initial boot. Sometimes works for several cycles. Usually on
second and subsequent cycles, the machine resumes again after a few
seconds, while the lid is shut. From then on, this behaviour is
consistent and does not change. Also same problem after manually placed
into suspend from power menu.

Workaraound: Disable XHC1

For example:

echo XHC1 | sudo tee /proc/acpi/wakeup (toggles XHC1)

This completely fixes the problem, and subsequent lid close/open works
as it should.

uname -r

4.4.0-18-generic
