The following sequence of operations produces the bug every time. xubuntu 16.04 as released, default settings for touchpad. Open file manager window on directory big enough to require scrollbar. Using touchpad move mouse pointer onto scrollbar slider. Press and hold down left (pad) button. Using right finger on touchpad operate scroll slider. So far all operates correctly. Remove R finger from touchpad to stop scroll but still holding down L button. Replace R finger on touchpad to resume scrolling and mouse pointer jumps to the right, often to the screen edge. If before replacing the R finger the L button is released and repressed scrolling can be resumed correctly.
