Yes, indeed. The interesting thing about this problem is that the workaround is enabled by default. If my memory serves me correctly, Firefox, VLC, and some other applications are included *by default* in that option.

Before some knowledged engineer can have a look at the issue: the compiz config settings manager makes adding the rules quite easy.
