Yes, indeed. The interesting thing about this problem is that the
workaround is enabled by default. If my memory serves me correctly,
Firefox, VLC, and some other applications are included *by default* in
that option.

By the way: don't credit me. I found the solution on ask Ubuntu a long
time ago. Before some knowledged engineer can have a look at the issue:
the compiz config settings manager makes adding the rules quite easy.
(Check out the button on the right of the input)
