Ok, this time, I have the live DVD booted with gfxpayload=text, "quiet splash" not specified, and "nomodeset" *not* specified. Once the optical drive stopped making noise, I pressed Ctrl-ALt-F1 and my monitor immediately got a signal. I then pressed Ctrl-Alt-F7 and got to the desktop.
I'll attach the dmesg and Xorg logs now. Thanks! ** Attachment added: "dmesg log with gfxpayload=text and no "quiet splash" specified" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1598935/+attachment/4695587/+files/dmesg-4.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1598935 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 won't properly boot due to radeon module issue To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1598935/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
