Thanks for the reply. With regard to SSH, I have access to only one system, the system on which I'm booting the live DVD. Ubuntu 14.04.2 is installed on the system and works just fine. So, I would prefer *not* touching this installation. I wanted to try the 16.04 live DVD to see if there might be any upgrade issues, once Ubuntu 16.04.1 is available.
So, I'll see if I can get Ubuntu 16.04 installed on the current system, using a different hard drive. Once I'm able to do that, I'll install the upstream kernel and will conduct tests. I'll report back my findings once I'm able to do so.
