Public bug reported: Hi, on a s390x system (means Linux on IBM z Systems aka Mainframe) I am able to find several snaps, like:
$ snap find hello-world Name Version Developer Notes Summary hello-world 6.3 canonical - The 'hello-world' of snaps or: $ sudo snap find snap | wc -l 16 But when I try to install one of the snaps (for example the suggested hello-world) I get a timeout: $ sudo snap install hello-world error: cannot perform the following tasks: - Download snap "ubuntu-core" (124) from channel "stable" (Get https://068ed04f23.site.internapcdn.net/download-snap/b8X2psL1ryVrPt5WEmpYiqfr5emixTd7_124.snap?t=2016-08-04T21:09:18Z&h=aca8127645952ba8db7a33454d8bdd0300acdc9a: dial tcp 77.242.195.172:443: i/o timeout) I can put the given URL to my local browser, download the snap manually, rename it, move it back to the s390x system and install it there - so snap/snapd seems to work in general. But shouldn't it be possible to be able to install snaps, especially in a case where I was able to find some before ? I'm using this snap/snapd version: apt-cache policy snapd snapd: Installed: 2.11+0.16.04 Candidate: 2.11+0.16.04 Version table: *** 2.11+0.16.04 500 500 http://us.ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports xenial-proposed/main s390x Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.0.10 500 500 http://us.ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports xenial-updates/main s390x Packages 2.0.2 500 500 http://us.ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports xenial/main s390x Packages The system is not directly connected to the internet, but is using a squid proxy. That allows to connect to various http and https internet sites, like: curl https://www.google.com So it shouldn'T be a connectivity issue ... This system is inside Canonical and I can do any kind of debugging in case needed or even grant access to it internally. ** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1609754 Title: Cannot install suggested 'hello-world' example To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1609754/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
