Hi John, thanks for the reply. Well, that hole is there: ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ curl https://068ed04f23.site.internapcdn.net/download-snap/

403 Forbidden

403 Forbidden

nginx/1.6.3

ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ And 'snap find' always works - I assume it uses a similar protocol, server, etc. for looking up snaps, does it ?
And remember that I am able to perform the download step manually - also from the s390x system itself, please see: ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ curl -o hello-world.snap "https://068ed04f23.site.internapcdn.net/download-snap/buPKUD3TKqCOgLEjjHx5kSiCpIs5cMuQ_27.snap?t=2016-08-06T13:40:11Z&h=605df5e9c90af6f1f14f4987d7b78b199a54f650" % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 100 20480 100 20480 0 0 10042 0 0:00:02 0:00:02 --:--:-- 10143 ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ ls -la hello-world.snap -rw-rw-r-- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 20480 Aug 5 09:46 hello-world.snap ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ snap list No snaps are installed yet. Try 'snap install hello-world'. ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ snap install ./hello-world.snap Name Version Rev Developer Notes hello-world 6.3 x1 - ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ snap list Name Version Rev Developer Notes hello-world 6.3 x1 - ubuntu@s1lp12:~$ So either snap and curl do something different - maybe use different ports or so (the protocol seems to be for both https) or there is a timing issue or a limit in a retry count or suchlike. The curl download seems to take some time, but finally succeeds. However a "snap install" seems to break earlier ... Is there a way to increase the timeout or any potential retry count ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1609754 Title: Cannot install suggested 'hello-world' example To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1609754/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
