chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra comes from the same source package as chromium-brwoser which does get security updates.
chromium does not depend on the extra codecs for the same reason that other major Ubuntu packages don't depend on extra codec packages. Those that want those codecs can install ubuntu-restricted-addons (the checkbox in the installer). Anyway, chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra is only a recommends. If you personally don't want it, you're free to uninstall it and keep ubuntu- restricted-addons installed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1306892 Title: chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra is automatically installed while installation process To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1306892/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
