Sorry for the lack of info in earlier posts...

My video chipset is 945GM.  Also, my issue in particular happens randomly when:
1) changing VTs
2) Logging out
3) Killing the X-server
4) Suspending to RAM

Under each of these circumstances, I randomly get the "grey blocks of
death", and then my system resets.  There may be some specific activity
that triggers it for me, but I'm not sure what it is yet.
