Dear Christopher, thank you for your help. I can try this out. However, it presumably will take me a several weeks, since I have to clone the primary install first, as I am not going to risk that my only work computer becomes unusable. To do so, I have to read and learn how to do the cloning and then how to update to what you call an upstream kernel. All this is quite new to me.
