Public bug reported:

summary: while updating ubuntu gnome 16.04.1 to 17.04 when usb device is
unplugged then plugged back in it crashes.

str:
1.) install ubuntu 16.04.1
2.) boot 17.04 installer from flash drive and have usb device plugged in (i had
a sony xperia)
3.) while copying files unplug device and plug back in
4.) observe console outputs

expected results: device does not majorly impact install, and installed
keeps running as should.

actual results: console output specifies that device has been unplugged
and keeps trying to find it and cant seem to, eventually installer
crashes

impact: low, small chances of user repo.

repro rate: needed

(this bug may be invalid but due to console output it seems to be caused
by usb device but unsure)
