Sorry, I might not have been clear enough on the versions, that would be
_K_ubuntu Gutsy (not straight Ubuntu) and gdei-kde. Not sure if that
makes any difference. Perhaps the original poster could clarify whether
there problem was with gdebi or gdebi-kde?
gdebi-kde exits with the line
FATAL -> Failed to fork.
I used some print statements in the python code (I couldnt be bothered
with any other method) to see how far the code got. "pm.GetArchives()"
in cache.py was the last function call to execute. There is an error
occuring somewhere thats not handled.
gdebi-kde doesnt appear to give any option to change the backend (unless
Im missing something - thats entirely possible)
gdebi does in fact work as you said, I hadn't thought to check that.
