Upgrading to debian's 3.6 package worked for me for ubuntu 16.04: wget "http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian/pool/contrib/m/msttcorefonts/ttf-mscorefonts-installer_3.6_all.deb"; sudo apt-get remove --purge ttf-mscorefonts-installer sudo dpkg -i ttf-mscorefonts-installer_3.6_all.deb
