Hi, this looks like a bad relationship between drive and medium.
OPC (Optimum Power Calibration) is preparation stage of burning were the drive makes experiments about the laser settings. The media have an especially reserved data area for that. Those experiments did not yield a satisfying result. So the drive told growisofs (two times) that it cannot deal with this particular medium. There is few hope that a different burn program would bring better results, except by mere luck. You could try other DVD-R media. Sometimes even a different spindle from the same brand can yield better results. But it might well be that the drive has reached the end of its life time. Google finds the drive model "DRX-710UL" discussed already in 2008. How old is yours ? Another (rather remote) possibility is that udisks2 is still groping the drive while growisofs already began to burn. CD-R[W] and DVD-R[W] are more vulnerable to external interference during burns than are DVD+RW or DVD-RAM. To exclude this possibility either disable usdisks2 for your drive or wait after medium insertion until the drive surely has ended blinking (and does not start blinking again after a few seconds of steady light). Have a nice day :) Thomas -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1654778 Title: growisofs: INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT error with DVD-Rs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dvd+rw-tools/+bug/1654778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
