The kernel is having trouble reading from the CD, according to this
syslog fragment:
Jun 13 13:13:38 ubuntu kernel: [4294965.777000] SQUASHFS error: zlib_fs
returned unexpected result 0xfffffffd
Jun 13 13:13:38 ubuntu kernel: [4294965.777000] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read
fragment cache block [18025b]
Jun 13 13:13:38 ubuntu kernel: [4294965.778000] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read
page, block 18025b, size 61eb
In this case the read error was actually in some code used by ubiquity
itself, which I hope makes it clear why it's hard to improve the error
messages (what happens if the error message code can't be read
properly?)! I suggest burning the CD at a lower speed (if applicable)
and cleaning the CD drive lens with the sort of cleaning kit you can get
at electronics shops; then perform a CD integrity check before starting
the install again.
