As of today, this problem is affecting my main desktop again despite the line in kdmrc being "ServerCmd=/usr/bin/X -br" (i.e. I have reverted the change that made it affect the desktop before).
I suspect this may be due to some updates that aptitude says aren't installed properly. (N.B. As I use a mirrored repository that is updated overnight, any changes to my system are reflected the day after the packages are updated in the general repositories) ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xgl XGL makes the display larger than my screen, and when I move the mouse to the edge of the screen, it scrolls that way. About a quarter of the full width and height of the display are off the screen. I have noticed this for some time on the logon screen - when the computer starts (or on restarting the X server), it is in the centre, whereas if I log off and return to the logon screen, I can see the upper left part of the whole display. Today I set XGL to be the default X server, attempting to solve bug 147642, according to the instructions in method C at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager/Xgl. My normal + desktop then suffered from the same problem. Running Kubuntu Gutsy beta, with an ATI mobility radeon X600 with closed source (fglrx) drivers. The native resolution of my screen is 1280x800. In system settings -> Monitor & Display, the only available resolution listed is 1280x1024. -- XGL screen size too large https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151262 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
