There were two dpkg.log files. I will attach both.

Is my system unusual? HW, not really. It was having very frequent
reboots under Win from either a failing MB (long term exploded
capacitors) or faulty power supply or both. It may also be the video
card as well. It doesn't like extensive 3D apps anymore (probably more
from the other two problems than the actual video card). It has been
very stable under Ubuntu though, and locks up significantly less.

Under Ubuntu, I've had the following problems. I sometimes get a "could
not initialize HAL" error at startup. I was getting it under Feisty,
but haven't gotten it yet under my Feisty-Gusty weird combo system. I
frequently have the X.org portion fail. The screen goes back and prints
some init text and the back to the login screen. During updates, it
sometimes freaks out. Before updating to Gusty, it did freak out once
during the package download, and th en worked perfectly fine the 2nd
time.

During the upgrade, there wasn't a single HW problem or freeze up. Just
the weird logs. I did run the package manager once and it started to
download the packages and I canceled it because I was playing with
Firefox at the time. So I did a reboot and then restarted the upgrade
with no programs running. That is when I had the big problems with
packages not installing and suck.
