Thank you [email protected], since the bug is rather lengthy already be advised 
that the newer kernels in Ubuntu already fix it. So e.g. booting with 16.04.2 
ISO works just fine.
Maybe that helps you in tracking that issue down.
The question is only if there is also a reasonable qemu fix to make older guest 
kernels work.
