Public bug reported:
gnome-mplayer is long dead upstream and it was removed from Debian. It's
a technical debt in Ubuntu. Please consider gnome-mpv instead
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-mpv. It depends on mpv and it
is actively maintained in Debian and upstream.
When the replace takes place, please remove the gnome-mplayer source
from Ubuntu archives.
