I have also been experiencing this problem since upgrading (via built in
mechanism) from 16.04 to 17.04.
Usually it is a complete freeze, none of the alt combinations work that
I have tried so far. Once I did get a terminal.
I am using the Gnome desktop.
Intel i7-6700 & 530 Skylake GT2. Ubuntu 17.04 x64.
