Public bug reported:

Installing sssd package on both fresh 16.04 installation and live CD
session results with the following error:

$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install sssd
...
Setting up sssd-common (1.13.4-1ubuntu1.5) ...
Creating SSSD system user & group...
adduser: Warning: The home directory `/var/lib/sss' does not belong to the user 
you are currently creating.
Warning failed to create cache: usr.sbin.sssd

sssd.service couldn't start.

$ systemctl status sssd.service
