@Andreas - did the docu on ldap_result change in newer releases?
That is from Xenial:
"ERRORS
ldap_result() returns -1 if something bad happens, and zero if the
timeout specified was
exceeded."
Or is the misleading bit here that the code is using not libldap's
ldap_result but a different one?
