That error is not really something that could ever cause the system to
freeze, as it simply means that we cannot find a dkms module (and
therefore gpu-manager can't get information about it). It should be more
of a debugging message than an actual error.
Something else is probably failing in the kernel.
Can you attach your /var/log/gpu-manager.log , please?
Also, please attach your /var/log/kern.0.log after reproducing the
problem.
