Thanks for the advise. There is no kern.0.log, but kern.log.1, maybe you meant xorg.0.log (all attached)
Just had two complete freezes with an updated kernel linux- image-4.8.0-56-generic 4.8.0-56.61~16.04.1 amd64. Switch to console and REISUB didn't work thus hard shutdown.
