I get the same problem on a NEC 1300A

COMMAND SEQUENCE ERROR" @LBA 0h. Is media being read?

Looking into google I found a lot of postings about this, mostly from
debian or ubuntu users.

Short Link: http://fionn.de/l?cmdseqerr-0h

Some reporters claim to have solved the problem with a kernel update, others
say that older versions of growisofs work fine, one or two seem to have had
luck with DMA turned off. A lot of readers suspect that some hal or
automounter component is squatting ressources.
The kernel update solution seemed to be the most consistent one, but no real
explanation has been offered so far, as far as I can tell.
