I worked around it.

I had to remove --purge
bluetooth bluez blueman bluetooth pulseaudio pulseaudio-module-bluetooth

Then I removed all pairing information with devices, both in
~/.config/pulse and /var/lib/bluetooth

Then rebooted

Then paired my A2DP device again, this time with blueman.

Then everything was working.

I think the main problem here is that I once had device discovery
disabled in /etc/pulse/default.pa. But that's not a bug in ubuntu.

Issue can be closed.
