Uh... aren't we suppossed to test these programs?

    "gpk-update-icon: When PackageKit is installed, it starts the session icon 
automatically when you log in. This application displays an icon in the 
notification area of your panel when software updates are available, and is 
responsible for showing notifications about PackageKit operations and events."
 So it is not working on wayland. At least it is not doing what it says it will 
do. It's a serious bug , also that it is trying to call another program 
"pk-update-icon" and should be considered a security risk.
