The latest gazebo7 release missed the Ubuntu sync for a few days but I think that its worth to go into the LTS since it solves many bugs and adds some nice features developed during the last year (regarding the version available now). It was tested for months since it is available for Ubuntu in the open source robotics foundation .deb repository.
