i have the problem too (since Gutsy),
the cause (in my case) was the root_sqash flag of the nfs export, due to the
adept_manager will be startet under root permissions (kdesudo) it has no
read/write permissens in the users home if the nfs share was exported with
root_squash. I have changed ist to no_root_suqash (what i don't like at all) it
works again. Mabe something has changed in KDE or the setup since Feisty. Why
adept use the users home instead of the root-users home, i don't know if this
is the reason?

The network integration (nis/nfs) in Gutsy looks even more buggy than
already in feisty :( I had to manualy modify a lot in the init scripts
to boot and shutdown Gutsy at all three hosts i installed it yet.

Regards, Jörg
