Public bug reported: Hi,
I used to work on a project with rust and Ubuntu (16.04 and 17.04) with the rustc that comes with ubuntu. The project was compiling cleanly two days ago, but today it broke. The image crate I use in my project silently (i.e. without changing it's own version number) upgraded it's depenendy to a newer png crate, and that required a newer bitflags crate, that this did not compile anymore. Error message: error: associated constants are experimental (see issue #29646) In this particular case, the discussion about issue #29646 under https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/29646 shows that this particular feature has been improved and incorporated into rust 1.20. So it might be a good idea to update the compiler every now and then as long as the language is still under development and not yet stable. The current version 1.17 coming with ubuntu is not anymore able to compile all code. regards ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.04 Package: rustc 1.17.0+dfsg2-8~ubuntu0.17.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.10.0-37.41-generic 4.10.17 Uname: Linux 4.10.0-37-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zavl zcommon znvpair ApportVersion: 2.20.4-0ubuntu4.5 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Wed Oct 18 11:57:59 2017 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-04-22 (543 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160420) SourcePackage: rustc UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to zesty on 2017-04-18 (182 days ago) ** Affects: rustc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug zesty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724525 Title: rustc outdated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rustc/+bug/1724525/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
