Public bug reported:

Hi,

I used to work on a project with rust and Ubuntu (16.04 and 17.04) with
the rustc that comes with ubuntu.

The project was compiling cleanly two days ago, but today it broke. The
image crate I use in my project silently (i.e. without changing it's own
version number) upgraded it's depenendy to a newer png crate, and that
required a newer bitflags crate, that this did not compile anymore.
Error message:

error: associated constants are experimental (see issue #29646)

In this particular case, the discussion about issue #29646 under

https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/29646

shows that this particular feature has been improved and incorporated
into rust 1.20.

So it might be a good idea to update the compiler every now and then as
long as the language is still under development and not yet stable.

The current version 1.17 coming with ubuntu is not anymore able to
compile all code.

regards
