Sounds like this is probably a problem in the graphics driver. When you boot in recovery mode you're getting a reduced-functionality graphics environment, which means that the logs that were attached don't show us anything about what happens when you try to boot normally. Could you attach the /var/log/kern.log file from your machine?
As a workaround, you could try forcing use of X instead of wayland. To do this you need to edit /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and uncomment (i.e. remove the # character) from the line which contains "#WaylandEnable=false". ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724362 Title: Not booting - 17.10 Beta 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1724362/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
