gwi, no hard feeling.. and you have a very good point. There should be a standard process to this, since this is a critical bug. Someone from the dev team should be assigned as "PR" for the bug to come in and say something to the effect of
"we're working on the bug at the moment and will get back to you with information as soon as possible. Meanwhile, do not perform 'foo' or 'blah blah' as that is not recommended". There are times when something seems to be related to the bug, but in reality is not. I'm no dev and I thought either the nvidia driver or the Restricted Manager were to blame but, as many here have pointed out, there are folks being affected who don't even use nvidia hardware. I feel sorry for the people who just learn about Linux today and download/burn the ISO only to be confronted with this the very first time they try Linux. This kind of bug sheds a bad light on all of Linux, not just Kubuntu, where the Linux newbie is concerned.
