I now decided to get rid of emerald altogether. Compiz-fusion is
running with kde-win-decorator, but decorator now crashes almost
every time I'm changing window decorations or the style (crash with
SIGSEGV). (OK, this actually is a different bug and therefore off-
topic.) Emerald ran fine and never crashed again after I completely
redid my system setup (clean install of kubuntu gutsy), I only
uninstalled it because I totally changed the look of my desktop. I
can't remember that emerald ever crashed with beryl under feisty on
my computer. Might the problem be compiz / compiz-fusion?
