I have installed several new Ubuntu 7.10 desktops with Compiz (cube-
plugin) and all of them have this "black screen" failure.
Graphics card:
$ lspci | grep -i vga
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV40.2 [GeForce 6800 LE]
