Leon, by the way, are there any compilers, or compiler optimization passes, that would make the same mistake that I did and assume the "uninitialized resp" fields are really uninitialized, and write garbage to the other structs? Or elide the assignments entirely?
Is there any way we can have confidence that we won't accidentally deliver such mis-compiled libraries to our users?
