Khursid, thanks for the reply. > Newer version Ubuntu doesn't support amd gpu
The link says: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS (Linux kernel 3.13.0), Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and later For the most recent ATI/AMD graphic cards supported by the Radeon driver, DPM (Dynamic Power Management) should work automatically without additional steps. Where does it say no support of amd gpu? And if, would that actually mean one needs to buy a different brand of graphics card? Referring to bug reports, I experienced no crashes, no segfaults, no compiz issues, nothing disappeared e.g. the launcher, only this broken graphics only on Unity items, as my last screenshot was supposed to show. As mentioned in the opening post, other applications like Nautilus or anything else except Unity items are fine. Referring to your other suggestions and the link to 'ask ubuntu' these are quote: "Following info is obsolete" And this bug report says the mesa issue is fixed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1735594 Xorg.log was already attached when uploading the bug report. In addition the already uploaded file apt-history says: libegl1-mesa:amd64 (17.2.4-0ubuntu1~16.04.4, 17.2.8-0ubuntu0~16.04.1) Thank you, but I don't need performance tweaks, I'd rather like this bug to be fixed. I did not make any changes to my system, only regular updating and it messed up my unity graphics on an LTS - no more no less. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1750583 Title: Broken panel and launcher - all black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1750583/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
