Problem solved: The problem seems to be a generic problem for HP Pavilion dv6500 series laptops. In general, it occurs because of intel hda sound cards. The solution is to download latest alsa drivers and install them. Earlier I was not able to make them, as there was some error. However, before executing, ./configure, if we give the command sudo apt-get install patch and do as directed and after that do ./configure, then make, then make install and finally reboot the computer. The sound automatically comes. This has started working for me for the front speakers. Front microphone is still not working.
