To find out whether the Xerox driver is perhaps broken. Have you already
tried to configure your printer on USB but with a generic PCL or
PostScript driver?

Is it perhaps possible to use your printer in driverless mode? Run the
command

driverless

in a terminal window and post the output here. Does your printer appear
in the output?

While your printer is connected to the USB and turned on, run

ps auxwww | grep ippusbxd

in a terminal window and post the output here. Is an "ippusbxd" process
listed?
