Public bug reported:
OS:
Description: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Release: 18.04
Package:
tripwire:
Installed: 2.4.3.1-2
Candidate: 2.4.3.1-2
Version table:
*** 2.4.3.1-2 500
500 http://us-east-2.ec2.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe
amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Expected:
Job runs from cron.daily script, root receives a single email report.
Observed:
Root receives normal tripwire report, as well as cron output.
On 18.04 (server in my case) - the default installation of tripwire
results in getting two emails every morning from the cron.daily job.
The actual report from Tripwire - as well as cron output. It seems that
the --quiet option for tripwire in the cron.daily script isn't enough.
I added ">/dev/null 2>/dev/null" to the end of the command line in the
cron.daily script and it seems to work as expected.
