Thanks Hans for the pre-triage! @Lukas - I have seen a few cases when booting from size-minimized images that even if the universe repository is enabled there never was an "apt update" run (The data packed into the image would be stale anyway, so there is no reason to bloat it), and therefore no sources to install it are known. When you check - as recommended by Hans - if -universe is enabled, then make sure to also run "sudo apt update" before trying to install again.
