Running Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10) with OpenOffice 1:2.3.0-ubuntu5. My testing
has been exclusively with the Utopia font provided by the gsfonts-other
(6.0-3.2ubuntu1).

The version of Utopia provided with the gsfonts-other package does not include
the Adobe Font Matrix files need by OpenOffice.org [1]. The only files provided
are text encoded Type1 fonts (.pfa):
  /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts-other/putb.pfa
  /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts-other/putbi.pfa
  /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts-other/putr.pfa
  /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts-other/putri.pfa

However, the Utopia fonts in binary (.pfb) with the needed AFM files are
available from the TeX User Group at: http://tug.org/fonts/utopia/ It
may be that the other fonts not displaying in OpenOffice also lack the
needed AFM's.

Hope that helps.
