Thanks Janos. I think if we are persistent and approach this
scientifically, we can figure it out. If you can figure out some hint
(e.g. the USB) start eliminating variables and applying it to multiple
situations. When we can find something consistent, we'll be on our way.

The other thing we can try to do is doing an strace. The problem is that
is going to be really "chatty" so if we can nail this down to a set of
steps we can perform quickly, it will be less of an issue of finding a
needle in the world's biggest haystack.
