Firstly, you seem to have one kernel message flooding the log:

So I would suggest using a newer kernel on this machine. The best way to
do that is to install Ubuntu 18.04 instead.

Secondly, next time the screen freezes, please reboot and then run:

  journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

and attach the file 'prevboot.txt' here.
