Thanks to Michal I got the suggested d63c82df8b11b583dec8e72dfb216d8c14783876 
as a fix.
This might need 4deed5f3c71f94acce387b68afbfc92911bf0a75 to backport.
Related is also a5445a3706b0bcbb6ec3f4f0f9e03b853ccf911b which also sounds 
close to the topic.
Essentially it is a 9 patch series and we can later check if/which subset we 
only need.
