Erik you'd be surpised to know that many people don't use vanilla kernels or don't have special knowledge on linux. It's OK to give details and github patches but it gives the false impression to people who just search their problem, that their touchpad won't work out of the box.
Ubuntu is not "my distro" is one of the top distros and many projects use it as a proposed base to build like AOSP , Chrome browser etc. It wasn't hostility against you so your defensive stance is unreasonable.
