I then installed a devel version of ubuntu-advantage, and was able to
successfully attach to a subscription:

This used macaroons, and wouldn't have worked without that package.
Finally, test scripts from the quickstart
(https://github.com/ecordell/pymacaroons#quickstart) mentioned in the sru
