Public bug reported:

Starting an Ubuntu 18.04 Life System from an USB Stick and afterwards
choosing the "Install Ubuntu 18.04 LTS" to install Linux on an internal
SSD (CT1000MX500SSD1 (M3CR023)) results in an error when trying to
install grub. Subsequent tries to install e.g. TUXBOOT fail because
these depend on grub.
