@Giraffe - glad for this extra confirmation, it would be great if you
could help as well to trim down the test to something more easily
reproducible.

Since we have more affected people I'll raise severity and set the regression 
tag.
If only the initial bug fixed wouldn't be severe as well I'd already upload a 
revert for now.
But I'll leave that decision to Andreas who will be here in a bit.

I might try to sort out the upstream patch and create a test PPA if
something feasible comes up, but for now the biggest step forward would
be a simplification of the repro-steps.
