Could you give some details on the installation? Is it using bios or uefi mode?
Do you have only one OS installed? (likely, otherwise you would get the menu
without having to change the configuration)
Could you add your boot log to the bug?
It's a bit weird that menu works in case of multiple OS installed but
that it's behaving differently changing the config?
