I'm not sure I follow exactly the matrix of the set of states before and after the patch and how the mapping should work in option (b), but assuming that it does what I'm confident we both are in agreement that option should do, I'm in favour of option (b) assuming that the additional patch is trivial and it is easy to review that we've achieved our goal by taking this route.
I would like to get a second opinion from another SRU team member before asking you to go ahead, though.
